The AGC MA Building Women in Construction Committee would like to once again thank Lt. Governor Karyn Polito for an on point and inspiring program on October 26th, 2016 at the UMass Club.

Discussion included her thoughts on work force development, personal career challenges and successes, best practices and overall insight on the important roles women play in the construction industry.

More specifically, Ms. Polito shared insight about her work to provide a safe place for women through a pilot program that is designed to assist homeless women fleeing domestic violence. “Many individuals find themselves in violent places. To gain stability, they need to leave it. They need a support network around them,” Polito said “The main focus is on individuals. It is to make sure when they find themselves in a place of homelessness due to domestic violence, there is a rapid response.”...

She also discussed her initiatives with STEM and getting females and minorities involved and aware at a young age, the current work currently being done to build up individual communities through the Community Compact campaign, and the status of innovation in the Commonwealth; specifically how do we maintain our reputation and keep up with new technology?

The program closed with a lengthy question and answer period.

This was the first program launched by the BWiC committee, please follow us on LinkedIN or sign up for the AGC newsletter to stay informed on future programs!

Special thanks to our program sponsor Commodore Builders.
