Module 1: Dirt and Underground

Instructors: Keller North America and Bond Civil & Utility
April 24 from 7:30 - 10:00 am

Learn about subsurface conditions that determine the selection of a building's foundation system. Review design and bidding considerations related to various below grade conditions.  Discuss the following deep foundations: Driven Piles ("H", Pre-cast, PIFs,etc.), Augercast, Micropiles and Drilled Shafts.  Also learn about ground improvements such as; Jet Grouting, Aggregate Piers, Rigid Inclusions and Soil Nailing. Gain insight on the excavation process, dealing with contaminated soils, logistics of equipment, dewatering, and trucking. Learn about the various types of earth retention systems including; sheet piles, solider pile and lagging, slurry wall, etc.  Finally, discuss structural components such as; LBEs, Caissons, and Piles.

 

Module 2: Concrete Placement

Instructor: Manafort Precision & Bond Building Construction

Learn how to prepare for concrete placement via a pre-slab meeting with all the relevant members of the team. The topics include; site logistics, benchmarks, placing environment, floor flatness, test procedures and much more. Review details about; slab on grade, slab on deck, steel vs. form and pour, safety, additives, testing and more.
 

 

Module 3: Steel Erection

Instructor: Marr Companies & Bond Building Construction
April 27 from 7:30 - 10:00 am

Learn about steel erection from pre-con to topping off.  Listen as the instructor shares information on effectively managing the steel supplier/fabricator. Cover the critical topics of site logistics including; crane selection, crane location, lay down area, truck traffic patterns, etc.  Discuss all elements of the construction such as; erection, connections (welded & bolted), safety, detailing, metrics and coordination.
