SUMMARY:AGC Edge: AI for HR & Operations in Construction
DESCRIPTION:About the Course\n\nAI for Estimating & Preconstruction is a hands-on\, facilitator-led workshop designed specifically for estimators and preconstruction professionals who want to use artificial intelligence to support\, not replace\, professional judgment.\n\n\n\nThis two-part\, live-virtual workshop focuses on where AI adds real value in estimating workflows and where human expertise remains essential. Participants explore how AI can assist with document review\, scope understanding\, assumptions\, validation\, and internal coordination\, while maintaining estimator control and accountability.\n\n\n\nThrough guided practice\, attendees work through a realistic estimating scenario using project documents\, assumptions\, and validation techniques. The session emphasizes practical prompting\, scope checks\, and RFI-style thinking rather than automated takeoffs or black-box outputs.\n\n\n\nBy the end of the workshop\, participants will have refined estimating workflows and begun building reusable AI assistants and templates they can continue to use and adapt in preconstruction work.\n\n\n\nWorkshop Outcomes:\n\n\n	Understand where AI adds value in estimating and where human judgment is critical\n	Apply AI to document-driven estimating and preconstruction workflows\n	Use AI to support scope review\, assumption development\, and validation\n	Practice prompting techniques that improve clarity and reduce risk\n	Identify common pitfalls and limitations when using AI in estimating\n	Begin building reusable AI assistants and templates to support preconstruction work\n	Leave with workflows and tools that be used immediately on real projects\n\n\n\nWho should attend: This workshop is designed for estimators\, preconstruction professionals\, and project teams involved in early-stage planning and pricing within construction companies. Participants should have a working understanding of estimating and preconstruction processes. \n\n\n\n**No technical or AI background is required.\n\n\n\nTechnology and Participation\n\nFor the classroom:\n\n Please have Zoom downloaded.\n\n Computer with dual monitor preferred.\n\n Laptop is good with a separate tablet to access the materials.\n\n\n\n*Participation in this workshop is for one person per registration.\n\n\n\n\n\nFor participation:\n\n Camera\, built in or added on and ready to stream to the classroom.\n\n Headphones or earbuds with microphones are preferred.\n\n Each student should be on their own computer/laptop/tablet.\n\n **Ensure that MS Project software is installed\, up-to-date\, and/or logged in on the web.\n\n\n\n\n\nCancellation Policy:\n\nA full refund will be given to cancellations made 14 calendar days prior to the class kick-off.
