The AGC Human Resources Committee’s most recent program featured a panel discussion on the implications for employers of the recreational marijuana referendum passed by Massachusetts voters last year.  Michael Harrington, Esq. of Murtha Cullina and Jim Moore of eScreen joined a cross-section of construction human resources and safety personnel to discuss the law in the context of current employer policies regarding maintenance of safe working environments.  The panelists emphasized that the new law does not require employers to accommodate marijuana use or limit their authority to enforce workplace policies restricting marijuana consumption.  However, it was also noted that it could be helpful to review testing procedures and safety monitoring practices in light of issues associated with marijuana use.  The January 19th program was initiated by Attorney Andrew Wailgum of MurthaCullina and hosted by HR Committee co-chair Kathy Freitas of BOND at its new headquarters in Medford.
