AGC MA and the Massachusetts Construction Advancement Program (MCAP) grants $40,000 in Scholarships

AGC MA and the Massachusetts Construction Advancement Program (MCAP) grants $40,000 in scholarship awards each year to deserving men and women who are enrolled in a construction or civil engineering degree program.

The 2018 MCAP winners receive $4,000 each in scholarship dollars:

Austin Milesi from Adams, MA who is currently a Senior, pursuing his undergraduate degree in construction Management at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Calls of 201.  Adam is a member of the WIT – Construction Manager Club and is the MCAA student chapter-Treasurer. He is a member of Sigma Lambda Chi-National Honor Society, has a GPA of 3.27 and has completed the Construction Manager in Training Program. Adam says that “His internship at Consigli Construction was the realization that this was the industry for him.”

Denise Quintliani from Lynn, is a mother of 2, working full time and maintaining a 3.9 GPA as she works towards a master's degree in Construction management, focused on emerging technologies at Wentworth Institute of Technology. She has an impressive family history in the Trades, starting with her grandfather, a coppersmith, her father a Plumber and her husband an Electrician.

Zachariah Merrill from Pownal, Maine is a junior currently studying for his undergraduate degree in Construction Management at Wentworth Institute of Technology, class of 2019. He has a GPA of 3.55 and has completed two volunteer missions to build community sanitary buildings in Guatamala and the Dominican Republic. Both experiences are what drove his desire for a career in the construction industry. He is a meember of the Construction Management Club at Wentworth Institute of Technology and is currently working for Consigli Construction.

Ernest Gaudio from Boston, MA is currently studying for his master of science degree in construction management at Wentworth Institute of Technology, class of 2019. He holds a GPA of 4.0 and has been deployed to Iraq as a Captain in the US Marines, in support of Operation Inherent Resolve in 2017. While in the Marines he managed projects such as building combat roads, building combat outposts, bomb shelters, machine gun posts, helicopter landing zones.

Matthew Mcternan from Lakeville is currently a Junior, pursuing his undergraduate degree in Construction Management at Wentworth Institute of Technology, class of 2019.  He is a past AGC MA and MCAP Scholarship winner and is a member of many local and college organizations including:
AGC MA Student Chapter Member, CMAA Member, Peer Tutor at Wentworth, National Association of Home Builders Member and National DECA Member. He holds a GPA of 3.64 and has had many successful internships most recently with Hayward Baker as a field engineer collecting necessary data for ground improvement solutions.

Ian Farr-Szep from Peterborough New Hampshire is a junior currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Construction Management at Wentworth Institute of Technology with a minor in Business Management. He holds a 3.66 GPA and is a member of many organizations such as:
Wentworth Institute of Technology Men's Soccer Team, Wentworth Construction Management Club, Mechanical Contractors of America – Student CHapter, Member of the Construction Management Honor Society Sigma Lambda Chi and the Construction Manager In Training Program. He is a current Co-Op with Turner Construction Company, Former Co-Op with Columbia Construction and has placed 3rd overall nationwide in the MCA Student Chapter Competition in 2017.

Joe Frissora from Glen Rock New Jersey is a senior currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in civil engineering at Northeastern University. He is a past AGC MA and MCAP Scholarship winner, and holda a 3.33 GPA. He is a member of many organizations such as:
Teens Working in Community Service, Northeastern University College Republicans, Vice-Chair, Massachusetts Alliance of College Republicans, and Historian, Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) Fraternity.Joe is a current Co-Op with Turner Construction Company, a past Co-OP for Suffolk and a past Co-OP with Boston Properties which he says “gives him a perspective on financial issues”.

Nixon Maitre from Boston, MA who is currently studying for his Master of Science degree in facilities management at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Class of 2019 and is working for Turner Construction and is their AGC Ambassador. Nixon is a member of the Student Chapter of National Society of Black Engineers (College Ambassador), the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and the Turner Construction Inclusion Focus Group. With a GPA of 3.8, Nixon is also the recipient of the 2018 Rullie Award for Academic Achievement.

Cassandra Gavin from South Easton, MA, is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering at Cornell University, where she entered with 4 AP Credits. She holds a 3.3 GPA and sits on the Cornell University Sustainable Design Team tasked with designing a 5th- 8th grade school in Chainpur, Nepal. As an 8th grader Cassandra used free design software to create a 3d model of her family’s home renovation in order to make her case that they shouldn’t move to a larger house. The design was approved by a license architect and constructed to her plans.

Recently she was a Job Site Intern for the MGM Casino and Hotel in Springfield, MA while summer interning with Central Ceilings. Cassandra is a member of many organizations such as: The Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity at Cornell University, the Space System Design Studio Independent Research Council at Cornell University and the Cornell Sustainable Design Project Team.

In addition to the $4,000 MCAP Scholarship Cassandra was also awarded The Albanese Memorial $2,500 Scholarship contributed by Commodore Builders.
