AGC MA Collaborates with FSU Graduate and Continuing Education Construction Technology Program

AGC MA and its member recently launched an advisory board to help facilitate multiple efforts to support students in the Continuing Education Construction Technology Program. The Advisory Board is made up of construction executives, state officials and Fitchburg State faculty, administration and alumni, to provide students with industry support and enhance their classroom education with seminars, guest lectures, site visits and internship opportunities. The partnership will help construction firms meet workforce needs while supporting the university’s programs.

On September 19, 2017, AGC MA and several industry partners came together including: Francis Colantonio, and Brian Smith, Colantonio, Inc., Jim Madigan, and Kyle Goehle F.W. Madigan Company, Inc., Janet Chrisos, MSCBA,  Brad Forrest, Walsh Brothers, Incorporated, @Jason Tessitore,  JM Coull, Inc., Joe Kelly and Brendan Carter, AGC MA, and FSU prof's Nirajan Mani and D. Keith Chenot to present to a room full of AEC students attending to share best practices in networking, presenting your best self, landing an internship, choosing the right career path and more.

On January 30, AGC's Director of Member Services Joe Kelly brought Plan Reading to the students. Fran Colantonio, President of Colantonio, Inc. spent more than 2 hours on February 21st instructing the students on the intricacies of estimating, team collaboration, preparing for their first interview and more. On March 4th, Andrew Colameta Principal at Sterling Construction, Inc.  continued the efforts by bringing real construction practices into the curriculum.
Most recently AGC MA and its members held the 1st Career Fair at FSU. The day ran smoothly, and students were excited to start making their first connections with industry professionals. Participating members included:
