Shortly after the 9th edition of the 780 CMR state building code went into effect in October 2017, the Board of AIA Massachusetts hired a code consultant to capture, on a chapter-by-chapter basis, the differences between the then sun-setting 8th edition and newly effective 9th edition.

With Massachusetts’ amendments included, the work of the consultant would cover the various changes found in the International Code Council’s (ICC) codes adopted here in Massachusetts, namely the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), International Existing Building Code (IEBC) and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).

Today, as a service to all members, the first of the four comparisons are now available for download and use from the AIA Massachusetts website.
