The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (Mass DEP) has contacted AGC MA for input on how the agency can best draft and implement it new 2030 Solid Waste Master Plan. From 2002-2012, AGC MA had an active Environmental Committee that was a key stakeholder in the development of the state’s 2020 Solid Waste Master and active participant in DEP’s C&D Source Separation Task Force.

Because of the new 2030 Master Plan development and other C&D initiatives, AGC MA wants to resurrect the Environmental Committee to serve as the chief contractor liaison with DEP.

MassDEP has begun the process of developing the 2030 Solid Waste Master Plan, which will set Massachusetts’ solid waste management goals and policy framework for the upcoming decade. This process will take place over the next two years, with a particular emphasis on obtaining stakeholder input during 2018. Development of the new 2030 Solid Waste Master Plan will fall under the Mass DEP’s Solid Waste Advisory Committee.

This group will play a central role in providing input on stakeholder priorities for Massachusetts’ new Master Plan and the DEP is especially interested in hearing from AGC members about:
  • The direction of the Plan
  • What AGC members see as its top priorities
  • Your particular insights into the future of solid waste management in Massachusetts.

DEP is planning to schedule a meeting in the next few weeks. Anyone interested in attending and serving on a new AGC MA Environmental Committee,  please contact Bob Petrucelli at 781-235-2680, ext. 14 or at petrucelli@agcmass.org.
