AGC MA members are reminded that significant changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) as it pertains to overtime payment requirements go into effect December 1, 2016.  Many employers will need to review policies for classifying employees under the FLSA, determining how wage payments are calculated, and developing policies for consistent recordkeeping and legal compliance.

Attorney Drew Matzkin of MintzLevin recently led a discussion with AGC’s Human Resources Committee members on the new overtime regulations and how contractors can best prepare for implementation of the new rules.  Click here for an overview of that presentation. The US Department of Labor has issued extensive guidelines for implementing the new regulations outlined in this fact sheet. Contractor representatives interested in discussing the implications of the new overtimes rules and related issues are encouraged to get involved with the Human Resources Committee which will next meet at the AGC Conference Center in Wellesley on Thursday, October 20th at 8:30 a.m.  Diana Hasan of C.E. Floyd, Inc. and Kathleen Freitas of Bond Brothers, Inc. are serving as co-chairs of the committee.
